MONTH BY MONTH TIMELINES FOR LIVING the METEA LIFE​
August      
  • Attend Freshman Orientation.
  • Actively participate in Fresh Connect.  Introduce yourself to at least two new people in your Fresh Connect class!
  • Log in to Student Vue to check your schedule, locker, network password, and grades.
​September   
  • Set your academic and personal goals for the year.
  • Attend the MVHS Activity Fair during lunch--look for opportunities to get involved in a club or other activity,
  • Join clubs and activities.
  • Attend a Guidance Department Mustang30 for this school years important information and to meet your counselor.
  • Parents watch the guidance video available on Curriculum Night.
  • Establish a daily study plan.

  • Identify your learning style.
  • Do your best every day!  Evaluate your study habits and plan for changes if needed.   
  • Visit an Academic Resource Center for extra help.
  • ​Attend Homework Club for peer tutoring.
November
  • ​Make an appointment to talk with your school counselor in your house to discuss your progress.
  • Attend Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences--students and parents attend conferences together here at MVHS.
​December
  • Attend Academic Planning Night 
  • Plan a study schedule for finals-FINISH STRONG!
  • Review Test-Taking Tips  
January  
  • Prepare to select next year’s courses.  Counselors will present through PE and distribute course selection packets.
  • Review High School Course Catalog.  
  • Access your transcript through Student Vue
  • Re-visit your 4-Year Academic Plan. 
  • Make appointment with counselor for academic advising.
  • Discuss with your teachers the recommendations they have made for you for next year.
  • Seek academic advice from your counselor and teachers.
  • Register online for sophomore year by January 31st!
February   
  • Meet with your counselor to finalize next year’s courses.
March/April
  • 4th quarter check-ins with counselor.
  • Make a list of your awards, honors, volunteer work and extracurricular activities from freshman year.
  • Update resume on SchooLinks with this year's accomplishments
May             
  • Make summer plans--summer activities and/or coursework? community service?
    • Summer coursework
    • Link to community service information 
  • Plan a study schedule for finals-FINISH STRONG!
  • Review Test-Taking Tips
  • Finalize any schedule change requests by the deadline at the end of May!
June   
  • Review the goals you set at the beginning of this year.  Reflect on your progress.
  • Print your report card from Home Access by the end of June.
  • Relax and re-energize!  See you sophomore year!
