- Stress the importance of application deadlines.
- Counselor presentation to students regarding application process.
- Students should double check graduation requirements.
- Note that senior year grades can impact final acceptance to your school.
- Counselors will begin processing applications starting the first Monday in September
- Families should assess if one more ACT/SAT if needed (September/October test offered nationally)
- Remind students to ask a teacher for a recommendation letter only IF REQUIRED by the schools to which they will apply. If students are using Common App, make sure you sync to schoolinks and inform teachers to watch for email link to complete letter of recommendation electronically.
- Visit with college reps in CCC or via virtualy visits
- Financial Aid Night presentation
- Begin the financial aid process by completing the FASFA
- Complete applications with November 1st deadline
- AP testing registration opens in September/ October
- Be on the lookout for College of DuPage application day, scheduled in the fall
- Applications with January 1st deadline need to be submitted by the end of the first week of December
- Prepare for final exams, senior year grades are important!
- Begin researching scholarships and financial aid options
- Check Schoolinks and other resources for new scholarships (added weekly)
- Complete any remaining applications
- Request 7th semester grades in January (mid-year) for schools that require them
- Narrow your college options and plans for post-secondary plans
- Complete the Metea Unified application for scholarship consideration
- Make pro-con lists of the schools you have been accepted to, narrow down your choices
- Compare financial awards received
- Finalize your college of choice. Deposits are due by May 1st
- Notify the schools that you will not be attending so they can offer your spot to another student
- Take AP exams
- Attend college orientation programs
- Complete the checkout process, pay any outstanding fines, graduation practice
- Confirm your final transcript will be sent to the college you have selected
